though my education is completed (for now), I've still got adventures to be had

Friday I still managed to wake up on east coast time - but I stayed in bed letting Joel sleep and working on some last minute things for work. Around  9 I woke Joel up - but in the best way possible. I gave him a 5 minute warning that he was abou to be woken by song. At the 5 minute mark, i played ELO, Mr Blue Sky. Needless to say there was singing and dancing.

Staying feeling the need to stay active, Joel and I went on a run towards USC. It was hot, but it felt good to get some exercise. When we ran around the park near his house - I almost killed a small puppy when it tried to run between my jogging feet and I stepped on its leash. All was well though - I picked it up, turned it around and sent the puppy scampering back towards the owner. Running near USC was lovley - it was graduation so robes, caps and gowns were fluttering everywhere.

Post run, Joel realized he had no clean towels so off to Target we went; picking up towles, trashbags and a quick breakfast. The towels were very fluffy. Due to the last minute trip to Target my tour of USC was cut short, I however did get to see a sound stage and Joel’s main quad - lovely fountain, with spanish style buildings. Joel then had to go meet some friends for a film he was making. Lunch/ the meeting was in a mecca of ethnic food - I found something to eat but it was weird. Afterwards, we headed back to Joels studio. He had to get ready to go to work (and help commencement while I took a nap - the time change has really been taking a tole.

Timing worked out well however - I woke up and Bria was on her way to get me! She took me to this very cute street that I obviously forget the name of. It had all these cute shops and restaurants on it - including the only TOMS shoe store - cool store, not only did they have the shoes but a cafe and lounge. We grabbed yummy lemonade and then headed back to Bria’s house before dinner.

Bria lives in fancy town compared to Joel but that’s an irrelevant point to make. He lounged for a bit but then got hungry so off to Luke’s restaurant we went. Bria and I split a steak salad and small pizza - i was super hungry so it was super delicious. Luke spoiled us and gave us the most massive cookie icecream situation - i’m craving it now as I type.

After we went to The Grove to see a car used in Arrested Development - James and Bria watch it - I don’t. But it was a very cool spot - reminded me a lot of Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas. Then it was time to go to the bar. The first place we tried to go had no parking so we instead went to a place called Father’s Office. Joel meet up with us there and we had a drink. Unfortunatley he forgot my pants so I was a bit chilly.  From the photo you can see i was exhausted at an early hour so Joel and I headed back after one drink - but all in all it was a good night

It was a day of ironicies. I woke up at 5:30AM, obviously still on east coast time. Having very few options, I ate a nectarine and headed down to the gym where I watched Full House on my treadmill.

The rest of the day was filled with work and the conference. Highlights included my British co-worker neil humming THIS VERY TUNE  - he had no idea it was from the parent trap, or that Halle was british or that there was a fantastic handshake that went with it. He had heard it in a diner and liked it. But after a full day of standing - my feet were killing me - the entire team went out to dinner. Knowing it was my first time in California, never mind San Fran, everyone said we had to go to Lombard street. So down we went, swtich back after switch back. The best comment came from Neil, with a very British accent, who said something to the effect “Can you immagine parking? I’d have to break my balls to do that everyday”.

From our photo opp spot at the bottom of the hill I also got a great shot of Alcatraz. The only knowledge of which I have from the one season show of Alcatraz.

We headed down that very hill pictured where at the bottom we got out to have dinner a this very large, art deco, dinner like place - only after another photo opp to get myself with the famed rocky island. Dinner was delicious and the conversation very funny - all my coworkers have children that like to do very funny things. The highlight of the night was the time I thought I saw dolphins. “No Angela those are just seals playing” says John, but Jess counters “No no no, Angels those are dolphins, singing a song just for you, about rainbows”. Biggest laugh by far.
